Iran-Qatar trade exchanges to be increased: envoy

TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – The volume of commercial exchanges between Iran and Qatar is less than 200 million dollars, the Iranian envoy to Qatar said, adding that the volume of economic exchanges will be increased.

Speaking in an interview with Mehr News Agency, the Iranian envoy to Doha Ali Salehabadi said, "The exchange of views and coordination between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries is aimed at supporting the people of Gaza, lifting the siege of Gaza and sending humanitarian aid to this country."

The Iranian foreign minister has very good and close contacts with the officials, the Prime Minister, and the Emir of Qatar, he said, adding that during the recent visit of the foreign minister to Qatar, various opinions were exchanged, including the developments in Gaza.

Answering a question about the level of Iran's trade ties with Qatar, he said, "The volume of commercial exchanges between Iran and Qatar is less than 200 million dollars, and this volume of economic exchanges will increase."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Iran’s ambassador to Doha rejected claims by US officials that recently released Iranian assets have been blocked in Qatar.

Iran's released assets are completely accessible and the claim of the Americans that Iran's money is blocked is not true, he added.
