Zionist regime to be friend to no Muslim country

TEHRAN, Oct. 23 (MNA) – In a meeting with the visiting Azerbaijani foreign minister, President Ebrahim Raeisi warned against relations with the Zionist Israeli regime, stressing that the Zionist regime will not be a friend to any Muslim country.

The foreign minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov was in Tehran to attend the 3+3 Format meeting later on Monday.

In the meeting, President Ebrahim Raeisi told minister Bayramov that the Islamic Republic of Iran wants engagement to resolve issues in the region.

"Iran stresses resolving the issues and problems of the region through interaction," Raeisi said, after stressing Iran's principled policy in rejecting foreign intervention in regional affairs.

Ayatollah Raeisi stated that "I had previously told [President] Mr. Ilham that the Zionist regime will not be your friend nor will it be a friend to any Muslim country," adding, "Today's situation in Gaza bears testimony to nations of the region." He said that the Zionist regime and its Western backers cannot be friends and sympathizers to the countries of the region, rather they only pursue their racist interests in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of expanding Tehran-Baku relations and cooperation in various fields, the President stated, "Improving the level of interactions and relations with the friendly, brotherly and neighboring country of Azerbaijan is one of the axes of Iran's foreign policy. The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the important and powerful countries of the region that stresses respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and emphasizes solving issues and problems through understanding and interaction among the regional countries."

Bayramov, for his part, stressed that his country attaches great importance to its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"Iran's view on the prevention of countries beyond the region from entering the region is approved and supported by the Republic of Azerbaijan, that is why we assess the holding of the 'Caucasus Cooperation Group' meeting in Tehran as useful, positive and constructive." the Azerbaijani foreign minister said, in turn.
