IRCS ready to set up mobile hospital for injured Palestinians

TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – The President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Pirhossein Kolivand has said that IRCS is ready to establish a mobile hospital near the Gaza border in Egypt to provide medical care for injured Palestinians.

During a videoconference with the President of the Egyptian Red Crescent Rami Al-Nazer on Wednesday, Kolivand appreciated the Egyptian Red Crescent's efforts to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Referring to the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s follow-ups on dispatching humanitarian aid to Gaza, he added that IRCS has made contacts with the presidents of Red Crescents in Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon as well as the International Federation of the Red Cross to find a way to send the humanitarian aid cargo and set up a mobile hospital near the Gaza border.

Pointing to the Zionist regime’s insist on evacuating Gaza people from the region, he said that according to the joint statement of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), they will not evacuate volunteer relief forces from the region because no one has the right to attack and martyr aid workers, medical personnel, innocent people, children, and civilians because it is a clear violation of humanitarian law.

Al-Nazer, for his part, thanked the president of IRCS for supporting innocent Palestinian people, adding that Egypt’s Red Crescent Society also communicated with the Office of the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the European Union, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, the International Committee of the Red Cross and all the partners that can take action for sending humanitarian aid for oppressed Palestinians but the Zionist regime has not allowed dispatching the humanitarian aids yet.

If the Rafah border is opened for a few hours, the priority is to send food and medicine, but if it is not opened, a humanitarian catastrophe will happen in Gaza, he said.

On October 7, the Palestinian fighters launched a surprise operation, dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm, outside Gaza after Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in recent days and a record number of Palestinians were killed by Israel in recent months.

The Zionist regime responded by pounding the besieged Gaza Strip after formally declaring war against the Palestinian Hamas group.
