In the first stage of the Asian competition, Bahmanyar (-50 kg) thrashed her Malaysian opponent and then she beat her rival from Cambodia in the second step to reach the semi-final.
In the semi-final, she accepted defeat against her Kazakh opponent and went to face her Japanese rival.
Bahmanyar edged her Japanese opponent 6-5 on the final step and gained the second bronze medal for Iran’s karate in the 2022 Asian Games.
Earlier, Sajad Ganjzadeh and Fatemeh Sa’adati gained the gold and bronze medals respectively for Iran’s karate in the sporting event.
With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.
Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
