Ahvaz Aljahad Mausoleum to Be Renovated

TEHRAN, Sept. 21 (Mehr News Agency) –- The Aljahad Mausoleum in Ahvaz is to be renovated in the near future, the Public Relations Office of the Khuzestan Cultural Heritage Department announced.

Following the visit of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Shafei, a Majlis deputy from Khuzestan, the Ahvaz governor general, and the director of the Khuzestan Cultural Heritage Department, a decision was made to renovate the monument and register it as a national heritage site.

Restoration of the mausoleum and the construction of a new road and monuments dedicated to martyrs are part of the project.

Several clerics and brave Arab nomads of Khuzestan martyred during the British invasion of Khuzestan in 1852 are buried in the Aljahad Mausoleum.

The mausoleum is located in Hamidiyeh, Khuzestan Province, 12 kilometers from Ahvaz.
