Iran Parliament shelves bill to split industries ministry

TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – Iranian lawmakers have rejected the bill on dividing the industries ministry and forming an independent ministry of commerce.

In an open session on Sunday, the Parliament’s Presiding Board announced the plan will not be addressed anymore since it has been rejected several times by the lawmakers.

The bill aimed at the separation of commerce department from the current Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade to reverse the previous government’s decision in 2012 to merge several ministries purportedly to create a streamlined and efficient administration.
