Italy succumbs to US pressure

TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – The Italian government announced on Friday that Iran’s Mahan Airlines' flights to the country have been stopped, an Italian daily reported.

According to the Italian newspaper 'La Stampa', the Italian government, like its European counterparts (France and Germany), has banned Mahan flights under the US pressures.

The move follows US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Rome. In his visit, Pompeo had urged Italian officials to ban the Iranian airline from accessing Italy’s airspace.

Mahan Airlines operates flights to Rome and Milan each week.
