Basiji culture guarantees nation’s progress: Leader

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei met with thousands of basijis (volunteer forces) from around the country here on Monday concurrent with the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’far Sadeq (AS), the sixth Imam of the household of the Prophet Mohammad (S), and Basij Week.

During the meeting, the Supreme Leader said that those who wish for the failure of the Iranian nation and have cast their hopes on the enemies are always dissatisfied with the basijis.

The basiji culture can play an important role in all of the country’s developments and guarantee the nation’s progress, he said.

“Today, the administration, the president, the Majlis, and all of the country’s officials are proud to be basijis.”

Referring to the underdeveloped spiritual and material situation of the Islamic world, despite its huge population and vast natural and human resources, as well as humanity’s displeasure over the lack of morality, spirituality, and human values in Western societies, despite their great material and scientific progress, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Revolution of Iran presented the world with the first experience, after centuries, of a system based on Islamic teachings that strives for the people’s progress.

Some great works that have been carried out over the past 27 years are more like a legend, he said, adding that the main stimulus of this progress was the basiji culture.

“The Basij consists of a group of people who have an active, conscientious, and energetic presence in all fields and use all their talent to realize the great objectives of the nation and to reach the summits of progress.

“The Basij is a culture; it is a lofty ideal in our society, and the more it is disseminated among the people, the more the future of this country is guaranteed,” Ayatollah Khamenei observed.

“The basiji spirit doubles activity, joy, movement, and life wherever it evolves.”

The Supreme Leader noted that trust in God, faith, hope, motivation, and vigilance form the foundation of the basiji culture, which helped the Iranian nation overcome all difficulties and recognize and rely on its own capabilities and talents in the years since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

“After 27 years, the Iranian nation has now become one of the top ten countries in various scientific fields.

“You can!” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing the youth, “You can guarantee the future of this country for a century and even more if you take the proper actions, and God will help you, for His help belongs to all mankind, if they prepare themselves to receive it.”
