Two new South Pars platforms to come on stream in winter

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (MNA) – Operator of phases 22 to 24 of the giant South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf says that two more offshore platforms will become operational in the hydrocarbon reservoir by late January 2019.

Farhad Izadjou said “the phases have registered 92% work-in-progress in both onshore and offshore sections,” noting that the project’s development is a in a good pace, and the two new platforms will go on stream in the coming months.

According to him, Platform 24A of Phase 24 is one of the platforms near completion, and is planned to become operational by late December or early January.

He said the onshore refining section of the phases has made 93.4% progress, and construction of offshore platforms is 94% complete.

The official added that offshore drillings of the phases have gained 87% progress, and construction of pipelines for the phases are 91% complete.

Pars Oil and Gas Company, as the developer of South Pars phases, is committed to launching half of the production chain of any South Pars development project by the end of this calendar year (March 20, 2019).

Production of 56.6 million cubic meters of gas per day, 75,000 barrels/day of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur, and annual production of 1.05 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and one million tons of ethane are aimed at by developing the phases.

Currently, Iran is producing a total of 580 mcm/d of sour gas from different phases of the joint South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf waters. Iran’s production capacity from the field stands at 600 mcm/d.
