Iran determined to add 3k MW of renewables by 2021

TEHRAN, Nov. 11 (MNA) – Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said that the country is determined to add 3000 MW of renewable energy by the year 2021.

He made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with former German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel in Tehran. German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Klor-Berchtold and representatives of some German SMEs were also present in the meeting.

In current circumstances, this meeting is a positive message from Germany to maintain economic ties with Iran, Ardakanian said, adding that on the other hand, it is a bright step for increasing cooperation in energy sector, especially renewables.

Gabriel, for his part, regretted the US economic sanctions on Iran, hoping that this trip would become a turning point in Iran-Germany economic relations.

Despite all the hardships posed by US sanctions, there is great interest in enhancing cooperation with Iran, he highlighted.

Former German FM assured Iranian minister that he will pursue the setting up of a joint Iran-Germany economic commission.
