Iranian medalists in Asian, world games exempted from military service

TEHRAN, Nov. 06 (MNA) – The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Ayatollah Khamenei has agreed with granting exemption from military service to all Iranian medal winners in Asian and world competitions.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei has approved granting military service exemption to all Iranian medal winners in Asian and world competitions.

The chief conscription officer of the armed forces Brigadier General Moussa Kamali said Tuesday that “in accordance with the [pre-existent] ‘Champion Soldier’ law, the gold, silver and bronze winners in Olympics games; the gold and silver winners in world competitions, as well as the gold winners in Asian games would earn exemption from mandatory military service.”

Kamali said that the Public Conscription Organization had sent a request to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, requesting for exemption for all medal winners in Asian and world competitions, which gained the Leader's approval.

The military official said “therefore from now on, the bronze medalists in world competitions and silver and bronze medalists in Asian games will earn exemption from doing military service.”
