“This edition of the festival will also feature the Golden Pen and the Best of Sacred Defense Cinema’s History sections besides previous sections including feature-length movies, short films, documentaries, and music videos,” Mohammadreza Sharafoddin said.
The event is to be held at Felestin and Sepideh cinema halls as well as Tehran, Sureh, Shahid Beheshti, and Azad universities, he added.
It’s the first time that such festivals are being held at institutes of higher learning, he noted.
He elaborated on the festival’s Golden Pen section, saying that it is intended to honor top screenplays.
He went on to say that about 500 Iranian critics, directors, filmmakers, and authors will participate the Best Cinema on the History of the Sacred Defense Section, where the five best directors will be awarded.
Majid Majidi, Hassan Hassandust, Reza Mirkarimi, Mojtaba Raei, and Seyyed Mehdi Shojaei are the festival’s jury members, he added.
Cinematic officials are also scheduled to discuss the necessities of Sacred Defense cinema during three professional sessions which will be held on the sidelines of the event.
Winners will be awarded during the closing ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on November 26, he said in conclusion.
