US never delivers on promises made in deals: Larijani

TEHRAN, Aug. 09 (MNA) – The Speaker of Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani told the visiting North Korean Foreign Minister on Thu. that the Americans never deliver on their commitments under agreements.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has had an experience of holding negotiations with the US and in all previous cases, the Americans’ commitments were explicitly stipulated in the agreements but they have never been abiding by their commitments,” said Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iranian Parliament, in a meeting with visiting North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho in Tehran.

“The Americans utter beautiful words when negotiating and promise a very bright future but they deliver on none of their commitments when it comes to [putting words into] action,” said Larijani in criticism of US foreign policy.

Elsewhere, the lawmaker asserted that Iran is after increasing negotiations and meetings with North Korea to develop political and bilateral cooperation. “The Islamic Republic of Iran knows the interests of North Korea in the face of tyrannical powers.”

The North Korean chief of diplomacy, for his part, said that Iran and North Korea have had good relations since very old times; “we are very content with developing relations between Iran and North Korea while we are both experiencing similar problems under US sanctions," he added.

“Dealing with Americans is difficult, and as our main goal is total disarmament of the whole Korean Peninsula, it is necessary that the Americans also abide by their commitments but they refuse to do so,” said the North Korean diplomat.

“Although North Korea has agreed on disarmament to deliver on its commitments in negotiations with US, we will preserve our nuclear science as we know that the Americans will not abandon their hostility toward us,” stressed the North Korean top diplomat.
