No one can ruin Iran-Turkey relations: Turkish envoy

TEHRAN, Jul. 15 (MNA) – Iran and Turkey’s interests are bound to the security of the two countries and no one can ruin the relation between these two nations, said Turkey’s consulate general in Tabriz Çağlar Fahri Çakıralp.

He made the remarks Sunday in Tabriz, in a press conference that was held to mark the first anniversary of the failed coup in Turkey.

Touching upon the long history of ties between the two countries, the envoy highlighted that Turkey and Iran are brothers and have helped each other when running into difficulties.

Turkey’s priority is to expand ties with its neighbors, he said, adding that Iran, as the oldest and most powerful neighbor, is strategically important for Turkey.

Çakıralp went on to say that his country had maintained economic and political ties with Iran even before JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) and amidst US sanctions, adding that this support will persist.

Elsewhere, he said that Turkey is the most important trading partner of Iran in the region and bilateral trade has significantly increased in recent years.

Investing some $250 million, more Turkish companies are now doing business in Iran’s East Azarbaijan province, he added.
