Zarif says US after harming Iranian civilians

TEHRAN, Jul. 03 (MNA) – Marking the 30th anniversary of the downing of its civilian aircraft by a US Navy guided-missile cruiser over the Persian Gulf, Iranian Foreign Minister condemned US measures targeting civilians.

In a post published in his twitter account, Zarif blasted the US downing of Iran's passenger plane over the Persian Gulf in 1988 and expressed regret that "perpetrator gets medal instead of punishment."

"July 3, 1988: US shoots down Iranian passenger jet, killing 290. Perpetrator gets medal instead of punishment;

2016: Following JCPOA, licenses issued for ~200 Boeing, Airbus & ATR aircraft;

2018: US cancels all licenses before delivery of single Boeing jet;

Clear target: civilians," the message reads.
