Iran calls for more coop. with PCA

TEHRAN, Jun. 24 (MNA) – In a meeting with the Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), Iranian Vice-President for Legal called on Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) to cooperate more with Iranian legal institutes.

Iranian Vice-President for Legal Affairs Laya Joneydi met and talked with Secretary General of Permanent Court of Arbitration Hugo Hans Siblesz in the Hague on Saturday during which she explained Iran’s long history of working with international organizations in the field of law and its different arbitration institutes as well as implementation of the UNCITRAL arbitration rules in detail to him and called for more cooperation between the PCA with the Iranian institutes.

She noted that Iran, as a member of the PCA, is prepared to use the technical-specialized services of the international legal body and said that it would expect the body to provide Iran with programs to empower the country's specialized institutes.

The PCA Secretary General, for his part, hailed Iran’s good experiences in international arbitration and its scientific potentials, calling for more cooperation with the country.

The two sides also discussed the bilateral cooperation agreements and agreed to work on each other’s recomendations.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Joneydi also paid a visit to the PCA complex and the Peace Palace library and old Iranian documents existing there .
