Turkey to reject US court order on Iran sanctions

TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – The Turkish Justice Minister says that Turkey will reject any US court decision on Turkish bank, refusing to abide by possible US sanctions against Iran.

In an interview with Turkish  Kanal 24, Turkish Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul, said that it is impossible for Turkish government to accept a court verdict which is against the country’s national interests, adding  that the case (Halkbank case) has already affected our relations with their allies in NATO.

The US court has sentenced Turkey's state-owned Halkbank, charging it with helping Iran evading US sanctions.

Reza Zarrab, an Iranian-Turkish businessman, who is also accused of violating the US sanctions against Iran, testified earlier this week against the Turkish officials at a US court.

Meanwhile, the Turkish authorities say that Reza Zarab's testimony was obtained by threats and promise of freedom.  Zarrab is now in the US jail.
