Araghchi lands in Paris for 4th Iran-France political talks

TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM Araghchi heading a delegation has arrived in Paris on Wed. to take part in the fourth round of Iran-France political talks.

The talks will be headed by Iran’s deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and Secretary-General of ‎France’s ministry of foreign affairs Maurice Gourdault-Montagne. ‎

The talks, the fourth of their kind, will be held within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Iranian ‎President Hassan Rouhani during his visit to France.

These negotiations, which are regularly held in Tehran and Paris every six months, will serve as a mechanism ‎within which the two countries develop their bilateral relations in various political, economic and cultural ‎spheres.‎

Discussing the regional and international issues, especially developments in the Persian Gulf and the Middle ‎East, are on the agenda of this round of talks.‎

In his two-day trip to Paris, Araghchi will also meet with French officials and deliver a lecture at the French ‎Institute of International Relations. ‎

Araghchi's visit comes amid France's repeated calls for holding negotations with Iranian officials on the country's missile defense program – a call that has been strongly rejected by the Iranian side.
