Iran urges EU to take clearer stance on JCPOA

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy FM Araghchi while stressing the need for commitment to nuclear deal by all sides, called on EU to take a clearer and more serious stance on obstacles impeding the implementation of the agreement.

Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary-General of ‎France’s ministry of foreign affairs Maurice Gourdault-Montagne in Paris on Wednesday.

Araghchi is in Paris to take part in the fourth round of Iran-France political talks, focused on developing bilateral relations in various political, economic and cultural ‎spheres, as well as on discussing the regional and international issues, especially developments in the Persian Gulf and the Middle ‎East.

During the meeting, the two sides also highlighted the need for further cooperation on promoting regional peace and stability, combating terrorism and drugs trafficking, as well as preserving the environment.

The French official, for his part, voiced his country’s keen interest in supporting cooperation between Iranian and French companies, and hailed the 250 percent increase in the volume of trade transactions in past two years between the two countries.

He also deemed “positive” the regional consultations between Tehran and Paris, underscoring the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in boosting stability across the region.

During his two-day trip to Paris, Araghchi will also meet with French officials and deliver a lecture at the French ‎Institute of International Relations. ‎
