The two top diplomats held the meeting at the venue of the Iranian Foreign Ministry HQ in Tehran.
The status of bilateral relations in areas of economic cooperation, trade, regional issues, and international developments, were discussed by the two officials.
During the meeting between Mr. Zarif and Mr. Johnson, the two diplomats conferred on the commitments of the signatories of the JCPOA.
Stressing the high importance the UK government attaches to the JCPOA, Boris Johnson reaffirmed his government compliance with the agreement.
UK is one of the signatories of the Iran nuclear agreement, which is also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), brokered on July 14, 2015, in Austrian capital city of Vienna.
The British diplomat also called for expansion of bilateral ties and more exchange of views with the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Prior to arriving in Tehran, Johnson had announced putting Iranian-British relations on new footing as an objective of the visit.
He is making his first visit to Tehran as foreign secretary.
