Rouhani hails para-athletes for Championship in Mexico

TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (MNA) – In a message of congratulation, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered greetings to the Iranian National Team of Para-Powerlifting for claiming title at the 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani forwarded a message of felicitation on Friday, extending greetings to the members of Iranian National Team of Para-Powerlifting and the whole Iranian nation over the championship of the Iranian squad at the 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico.

Earlier on the day, Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement to offer congratulations to the Iranian outfit and nation.

Iran’s 29-year-old Paralympian Siamand Rahman who set the world record of 310kg at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, displayed his strength by comfortably winning the men’s over 107kg and confirming his status as the world’s strongest Paralympian on the penultimate day (7 December) of competition at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico City.

The 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships kicked off on December 2, and will wrap up on December 8.

The Islamic Republic of Iran National Paralympic Committee (IRINPC) has dispatched a 14-strong powerlifting delegation to the world championships..
