Ghasemi:

UK debts to Iran irrelevant to spy case

News ID: 4146877 -
TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) –The FM Spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, says the case of Nazanin Zaghari who is in detention for espionage against Iran is irrelevant to UK government’s financial debts to Iran.

“This case was legally proceeded in Iranian courts and following all the legal procedures the final verdict was issued about Nzanin Zaghari,” said Bahram Ghasemi the Spokesman of Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

The Iranian diplomat made the remark after some British news outlets published speculations that the case was related to the debts of UK government to Iran.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been following the case of restoring the rights of the Iranian nation from the British government since a long time ago,” he ascertained. “Long and thorough negotiations have been conducted so far and the case is followed through different channels,” he added.

Mr. Ghasemi then reassured again that the two cases are two separate and independent cases with no relevance to each other.
