Iran deputy FM meets French Sen. Cambon in Paris

TEHRAN, Nov. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy FM Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Chairman of France Senate committee on foreign affairs held talks on bilateral and regional cooperation on Wednesday.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanch met with Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces of French Senate Christian Cambon on Wednesday, and exchanged views on bilateral and regional cooperation between the two countries, as well as the recent developments on the international scene.

Cambon highlighted the significance of holding dialogs with Iran, adding “deepening cooperation with Iran, particularly the continuation of talks with the country’s parliament, is a point of consensus in the French Senate committee on foreign affairs.”

During the meeting, the two sides underscored the role and position of Iran as a key regional player, the necessity of cooperation between Iran and France in countering regional threats and challenges, as well as the significance of improving peace and stability in the region.

Cambon further voiced France’s strong support for the landmark Iran nuclear deal and called on all parties to the deal to remain fully committed to their obligations under the JCPOA.

While in France, Takht-Ravanchi also held talks with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, where he called on France and the European countries to play a more serious role in the implementation of JCPOA.

They also discussed the upcoming visit of French foreign minister to Tehran.
