Americans have turned W Asia into gunpowder house: FM Zarif

TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Zarif slams US for milking W Asia’s wealth in exchange for arms and says that Iran is ready to take retaliatory measures should US impose sanctions on the IRGC.

“Such measures will make the Americans more isolated in the world and more hated before the eyes of our nation,” asserted Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Monday.

He said it in response to questions asking him to comment on the latest speculations on US probable black listing of IRGC. Mr. Zarif made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting for coordinating the ceremonies of the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

“If the American officials make such a strategic mistake, the Islamic Republic of Iran will assuredly take the retaliatory measures,” ascertained the top diplomat. “Of course we have devised the proper reactions which would be announced at the right time.”

“We have stated many times that the IRGC is a source of pride for our country, guarantor of national defense and continuation of the Islamic Revolution, and the defender of the borders of our country,” said Mr. Zarif, “the role of the entity in the eight year war was also glorious.”

“The Westerners know these facts very well and it is quite obvious in the JCPOA that the Islamic Republic of Iran will never negotiate over its defensive capabilities,” reiterated the Iranian chief diplomat.

“It is Americans who have to be taken responsible for selling lucrative amounts of arms and turning the western Asia into a resort house of gunpowder,” highlighted Mr. Zarif.
