Velayati says Iran alive thanks to IRGC’s services

TEHRAN, Oct. 08 (MNA) – Ali Akbar Velayati, Iranian Leader’s Aide, told the reporters that US sanctions against IRGC are because of the big services the Iranian entity has offered.

“Iran did not exist if it was not for the IRCG,” Ali Akbar Velayati quoted Iran’s late Leader Ayatollah Khomeini saying so.

Mr. Velayati, the Iranian Leader’s Aide, made the remark on Sunday when reporters asked him about US increasing sanctions against Iran and IRCG and added that “the Americans have been imposing sanctions and practicing animosity against Iran since the outset of the Islamic Revolution.”

“The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is assigned in Iranian Constitution to safeguard and protect the revolution and the borders and boundaries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and this assignment is a heavy task to shoulder,” affirmed the former foreign minister.

He described the IRGC as a holy institution founded upon people and underlined that “many threats have been handled with smart defense practiced by the IRGC.” Mr. Velayati ascertained that “Americans and Zionists know how sensitive the role of IRGC is in defending country, the Islamic Republic Establishment, the friends of the Islamic Republic Establishment in the region, and the resistance axis.”

“If it was not for advisory and training support of the IRGC in Iraq and Syria, the current establishments in Iraq and Syria which have roots in their people would have been toppled now,” he said, “and US mercenaries like the ISIL would govern over Baghdad and Damascus.”

The Iranian senior official underlined his points as the reason to show how bold the role of the IRGC is in defending the Revolution and Its achievements. He added that is why ‘the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran are so much focused on the IRGC’.
