US-led coalition airstrikes kill 19 civilians in Syria

BEIRUT, Aug. 10 (MNA) – The US-led coalition airstrikes in Al Mayadin and the northern parts of Al Tabani in Syria killed 19 civilians, according to local media.

The US-led international coalition conducted airstrikes on the towns of Al Mayadin and Al Tabani in the vicinity of Deir ez-Zor city in eastern Syria, killing 19 civilians, local media reported Thursday.

According to SANA news agency, the airstrikes hit Al Mayadin and the northern parts of Al Tabani, inflicting serious damage to the town's infrastructure in addition to killing over a dozen local residents.

On July 30, the international coalition destroyed a hospital in the town of Abu Kamal in the Deir ez-Zor governorate, killing six people and wounding 10 others.

The US-led coalition is conducting airstrikes, ground-based and rocket-propelled artillery fire against the ISIL terrorist group in Syria and Iraq. The strikes in Iraq are conducted in support of the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the UN Security Council or the government of President Bashar Assad.
