Ali Larijani in a message to Pakistani Chairman of Senate Reza Rabbani and Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq condemned the Friday terrorist attacks on Pakistan’s northwestern town of Parachinar bordering Afghanistan which occurred on the last day of the holy month of Ramadan.
He also extended his sympathy and condolences to the Pakistani nation and government and the families of the victims.
He further expressed hope that with collective efforts from Muslim countries in the fight against terrorism, the region and the world would soon witness the return of peace and security.
The twin explosions that rocked Parachinar on Friday and killed at least 45 people occurred hours after another attack in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, which killed 13, including seven policemen, and injuring 21 others in a car blast. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni armed group, claimed the bombings in the predominantly Shia Muslim town, while the responsibility of the earlier attack was claimed by Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistan Taliban.
On Sunday, the country mourned the deaths of at least 120 people in an oil tanker explosion.
