Larijani slams terror attacks in Pakistan

TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (MNA) – Iran’s Parl. Speaker in separate letters to his Pakistani counterparts condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Lahore and near the border with Afghanistan that left dozens killed and injured.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Thursday expressed his condolences to Pakistani Chairman of Senate Reza Rabbani and Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, over the recent terrorist attacks carried out by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, in Lahore as well as near the border with Afghanistan.

The suicide bombing in the troubled northwest near the border with Afghanistan on Wed. killed four Pakistani soldiers while a bomb blast in a fruit truck in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Monday night left at least 40 people injured.

In his message, Larijani noted that the occurrence of terrorist attacks once again reminds all nations of the serious threat of terrorist groups to the peace and stability in the region and the world, calling for collective cooperation from all countries in the fight against the scourge of terrorism.

Larijani further stressed Iran’s resolve, as one of the victims of terror, to stand beside Pakistan in combating the common threat of terrorism.
