TEHRAN, May. 05 (MNA) – The 2016-17 season of Persian Gulf Premier League of Iran’s Professional Football was concluded on Thursday with last 8 fixtures of the tournament held simultaneously across the country.

The thirtieth and final week of 2016-17 season of Persian Gulf Premier League of Iran’s Professional Football was held on Thursday while the title had been already won by the red giants of Tehran three weeks to the end.

The title winners of Tehran conceded to a 0-1 defeat to Siah Jamegan of Mashhad to let their hosts escape from relegation. Rouhollah Seyfollahi scored the sole goal of the event in the 48th minute of the game.

The blue giants of Tehran defeated Sepahan of Isfahan 2-1 to finish the season as runner up. Their closeset rivals from Tabriz also grabbed a 1-0 victory with a late goal but they were short of 1 point and lost the race for the second position.

Machinsazi of Tabriz who lost 0-1 to Saipa were relegated to the lower league. Saba of Qom were also defeated on their last Premier League fixture before relegation.

Gostaresh Foulad of Tabriz gained a listless 1-0 victory over Sanat Naft of Abadan. The Tabrizi hosts scored in the minute 37.

Zowbahan of Isfahan thrashed the visitor from mashhad with 2 goals. Padideh conceded in the minute ten and 53.

Peykan harnessed an away victory in Ahvaz where they edge past Fould of Khuzestan 2-1.
