Premier League: week 24 opens with blues victory

TEHRAN, Mar. 09 (MNA) – The opening fixtures of  the 24th week of the 2016-17 season of Persian Gulf Premier League of Iran’s football was held on Wednesday in Tehran.

The blue giants of Tehran who did not garner more than one point in their last round’s fixture against Siah Jamegan of Mashhad edge passed Saipa of Alborz on Wednesday on the opening day of the week 24, Persian Gulf Premier League of Iran’s Professional Football.

Farshid Bagheri’s goal of minute 41 put the hosts ahead for the rest of the game till the minute before the end of the legal time at 89th when Ezzatollah Pourghaz scored the equalizer. Much to the luck of the blues, four minutes into the injury time, the Portuguese striker of the blues, Leandro Padovani Celin, scored the goal of the victory on the brink of the final whistle to let Esteghlal of Tehran claim the all three points of the event.

The other fixtures of the week 24's edition of Premier League will be held on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, Machine Sazi of Tabriz and Naft of Abadan are scheduled to line up at 03:30 P.M. local time in Tabriz as the red giants of Tehran will line up against Esteghlal of Khuzestan at Azadi Stadium of Tehran and Zowb Ahan of Isfahan will play against Naft of Tehran in Isfahan at 05:30 P.M. local time.   

On Friday, the remaining four fixtures of the week will be held in Tabriz, Mashhad, Tehran, and Ahvaz. In Tabriz, Gostersh Foulad will line up against Saba of Qom. In Mashhad, Siah Jamegan of Mashhad will host Sepahan of Isfahan. In Tehran Peykan will host Padideh of Mashhad. The last event of Friday kicks off at 04:30 P. M. in Ahvaz where Tractorsazi of Tabriz will play against Foulad of Khuzestan.
