Zarif calls for impartial investigation into Khan Shaykhun case

TEHRAN, Apr. 11 (MNA) – In his consultations with senior foreign officials, Iranian FM Zarif called for formation of a fact-finding committee on chemical attack on Syria’s Khan Shaykhun.

On Monday evening, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif continued consultations with senior political and international officials by conducting separate telephone conversations with UN Secretary General António Guterres, as well as his Italian, Kuwaiti and Turkish counterparts mulling over regional issues and latest developments in Syria.

In the calls, Zarif stressed the need to form an international fact-finding committee on chemical attack on Khan Shaykhun.

Previously on April 4, several European states accused Syrian Air Force of using warfare poisonous agents while striking Khan Shaykhun. Syrian government, in its turn, refuted these accusations, stating that the target of the strike was the militant’s position where they organized a chemical depot. The strike led to the spread of warfare poisonous agents and dozens of casualties among civilians.
