TEHRAN, Mar. 11 (MNA) – Hassan Barzideh’s feature film ‘Mazar Sharif’ won the Best Film Award at Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne.

A157, Entr'acte, Home and Like a Balloon were among other Iranian representatives which participated the event held from Feb. 25 to Mar. 02.

Mazar Sharif recounts the story of ten Iranian diplomats and a journalist who were killed in a raid by Taliban of Iran’s consulate in the city of the same name.

The film features Hossein Yari, Mahtab Keramati and Masoud Rayegan as its main characters.

Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne is an event that celebrates feature films and their creators. The goal is to build a festival that will be on par with Sundance, Cannes, and other major festivals but geared to the truly independent filmmaker, actor, and script writer. Giving them opportunities and opening doors that would not otherwise be open to them. The festival is a showcase for feature and short films from all over the world.
