Rouhani, Zarif hail Iranian wrestlers on World Cup championship

TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Iranian freestyle wrestling team on their winning the championship title at the 2017 Men's Freestyle World Cup.

In a message cabled on Friday, Rouhani felicitated Iranian Wrestling Squad’s victory in the 45th round of the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup which was held in the city of Kermanshah in Western Iran.

Hailing the efforts of all coaches, and officials especially people of Kermanshah province, President Rouhani said Iran's victory in the Wrestling World Cup in Kermanshah city brought about pride and joy for Iranian nation.

This victory, he noted, is another sign of Iran's capability and competence to conquer peaks of honor in all sports fields.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also extended his congratulatory message to the people of Iran, wrestling community and all coaches for the prestigious victory.

“I congratulate the sixth consecutive victory of Iranian national wrestling team in Wrestling World Cup and I appreciate their efforts,” the message reads.

Iran’s national squad of freestyle wrestlers defeated the US rivals at the final to crown the 45th round of the 2017 Freestyle World Cup for the sixth consecutive time in Kermanshah province.
