National sitting volleyball team atop world ranking

TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (MNA) – World ParaVolley has introduced Iran men’s sitting volleyball team as the top team in the latest 2016 Rolling World Ranking list.

Male sitting volleyball players of Iran have secured the top place in the ranking list with 5215 points while the country’s female squad has lnded sixth with 2870 points.

In Men’s section, Brazil secured the second place with 4708 points followed by Egypt (4523 points), Bosnia & Herzegovina (4300 points) as well as Germany (3578 points).

Meanwhile, in Women’s section, the US team collected 5350 points to ranks first and is followed by China (5200 points), Brazil (4214 points), Ukraine (4120 points) and the Netherlands (3597 points).

The I R Iran Men’s Sitting Volleyball Team was in great shape this whole competition year, and were favourites to win Gold at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.  Iran’s female para volleyball squad also offered excellent sportive performances to finish in the fifth place at the 2016 Paralympics.

The rolling ranking list was compiled by World ParaVolley using points allocated from the several competitions including 2016 Paralympic Games, 2016 Intercontinental, 2016 Intercontinental PG Qualifying event, 2014 World Championships as well as Two Zonal Championships (2013/2015).

It is noteworthy that the Rolling Ranking points are compiled using the points allocated from the last competition of each kind except the Zonals, where two competitions are used.
