Sorena Sattari made the remarks in a joint meeting with a high-ranking scientific delegation from Germany on Monday, adding “Iran has cooperated in a number of basic research and technology commercialization projects with Germany, and we are planning to expand our cooperation to include the field of startups.”
He went on to add, “at the moment, Iran holds expert startups in the fields of ICT and biotechnology, and the country's biggest startup sells $5 million per day, which is quite unprecedented in the region.”
“Iran has made considerable progress in biotechnology and presently, 98 per cent of the country’s required pharmaceuticals are produced by domestic companies,” he said.
According to Sattari, Iran is home to the biggest market in region in the field of product commercialization, startups and energy transfer; “by the next year, the ICT startup market in Iran will reach $80 billion.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Minister for Education and Research of Germany said during the meeting that his country is planning to form a joint scientific commission with Iran by 2017 in a bid to define joint scientific and technological cooperation.
