 Iran boosts gas oil exports to Afghanistan

TEHRAN, Oct. 08 (MNA) – An official has announced that the monthly volume of Iran’s export of gas oil has become fourfold over the past few months.

More than 31 million liters of gas oil have been transfered to the neighboring country. In time with the increased gas production at South Pars and replacement of fuel or diesel oil with natural gas in power plants, gas exporting  capacity of Iran has experienced a growth.

Accordingly, Iran has exported a daily average of 14 million liters of gas oil to global markets in the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20) while the figure is expected to hit 20 million liters by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan has turned into the largest regional market for the Iranian gas oil and the export volume of the oil product in the previous Iranian month (ended September 21) was four times larger than the figure for the first month of the Iranian year.

Provincial Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mohammad-Mehdi Gharaei described the latest status of Iran’s gas oil exports to Afghanistan saying “currently, majority of gas oil exports to the neighboring country is carried out by border cooperative firms.”

The official recalled that exports of Iranian gas oil to Afghanistan stood at about 4.991 liters in the first month of the current year while the figure reached 11 million liters in the fifth month.

“The figure for the sixth month of the current Iranian calendar year hit 17 million liters while it is expected to grow further,” Gharaei underlined.

He reiterated that overall, an aggregate total of more than 31.758 million liters of gas oil were sent to Afghanistan through borders of North Khorasan province in the first half of the present year.
