'Starless Dreams' wins Best Documentary Award in Russia

TEHRAN, Oct. 01 (MNA) – Iranian director Mehrdad Oskui’s 'Starless Dreams' won the Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 26th edition of Message to Man International Film Festival.

The event underway in Saint Petersburg, Russia from September 23 to October 1, displayed Iranian movie on September 27 and 28.

The acclaimed documentary shows young women in an Iranian juvenile detention center reflecting on the crimes they have committed and the harsh circumstances that have shaped their lives.

The film has so far won many awards in national and international film festivals, including the Amnesty International Film Prize at the 66th Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlinale-Generation 14plus, Germany, and the Full Frame Inspiration Award at the 19th Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, North Carolina, USA.

Message to Man International Film Festival is an international competitive documentary, short and animated film festival held annually in Saint Petersburg, Russia.  It gives priority to films, in which humanistic ideas are expressed by truly cinematic language.
