The closing ceremony of Italy’s Cinema Povero (Festival Internazionale Del Cinema Povero) which has invited Iranian director Yousef Kargar to judge the third edition of the event, was held yesterday and awarded four Iranian short movies, competing with other films from Italy, Spain, the US, France, Switzerland and Mexico.
Accordingly, Iranian animation Junk Girl directed by Shalale Kheiri and Mohammad Zare won Special Jury Award, From the Eastern Lands by Sarah Tabibzadeh won the Award for Best Soundtrack, Angels Are Dead directed by Sahar Khoshcheshman and Fish by Saman Hosseinpour grabbed Honorary Diploma of the festival.
The 3rd Festival Internazionale del Cinema Povero 2016, is intended to authors who have made their work at zero cost or at very low budget. The event holds a social and cultural approach to the discovery and introduction of short filmmaking talents in the field of short films and documentaries.
The event was held on September 23-25 in Ispra of Italy.
Acclaimed director Yousef Kargar has bagged almost 10 awards at over 50 international film festivals for his recent short film Elegy, which centers on the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.
