Iran's ping pong teams jump spots in world rankings

TEHRAN, Sep. 24 (MNA) – Almost all national table tennis teams of Iran have improved their positions in the latest ITTF rankings.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) calculates team rankings on the basis of the top three players in each country.

Accordingly, given the status of Noshad Alamian, Nima Alamian and Afshin Norouzi as Iran’s leading male paddlers, the country’s position in the latest rankings released by ITTF has improved from 29th to 28th place.

However, the position for women’s national team of Iran has remained untouched in the 46th place.

In junior division, boys’ team jumped six places to stand 38th in the rankings for September while girls’ squad climbed to the 55th ranking after improving by two spots.

The rankings released by the International Table Tennis Federation hold momentous since seeding procedure for all international, continental, world as well as Olympic competitions are based on team and individual standings.
