Regional issues to be resolved through intra-regional factors

TEHRAN, Aug. 18 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stressed that regional conflicts should be addressed inside the region with regional states.

If the US and Saudi Arabia did not sabotage and take measures supporting terrorists and armed groups, Syrian issue could be settled through political ways, said Amir-Abdollahian in his meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende in Tehran.

Pointing to the positive role of pro-Syrian international group and the efforts of UN envoy for Syria, he underlined Iran's position from the beginning of the conflict was to resolve the issue through political dialogue and rejecting any security and military methods as ineffective.

He said Iran is playing an advising role in helping Iraq and Syria fight against terrorism.

Børge Brende, for his part, said Norway is ready to help resolve issues and conflicts in the region, including in Syria.

He underlined that Norway supports a political solution to Syrian crisis and will also help to accelerate the process, calling upon the parties to reach shared principles regarding the crises.
