ISIL cell destroyed in western province

TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (MNA) – Minister of Intelligence has said intelligence forces have discovered and destroyed an ISIL cell organized by a local commander in a western province.

Seyed Mahmoud Alavi was quoted by the ministry’s official website as saying that the group’s head had infiltrated the country from western borders; “4 terrorists were killed during fire exchange of intelligence forces with the group,” he said.

“Religious centers and congregations and pilgrimage shrines have been possible targets of attacks; their attack had been organized, targeting simultaneously many spots inside the borders,” Mr. Alavi was quoted by the website report.

“A number of cell members were arrested, along with explosives belts, grenades, and other weapons discovered during the operation; the public information contributed hugely to the success of the operation and we appreciate the contribution of the local people; coordination of local and national authorities would help intelligence and security forces to thwart the plots of avowedly hostile enemies to the country,” Alavi added.
