Young Greco-Roman wrestlers to depart for Georgia

TEHRAN, Aug. 07 (MNA) – The national Iranian cadet Greco-Roman wrestling team will leave Tehran for Georgia’s Rustavi on Sunday afternoon to attend Temo Kazarashvili international tournament.

Rustavi, a city in the southeast of Georgia, will host the international wrestling tournament of World champion Temo Kazarashvili from August 9-10 in Greco-Roman wrestling among cadets born in 1999-2000 years.

The names of the cadet Iranian Greco-Roman athletes to take part in the Georgian event are as follow:

42kg: Mohammad Hajivand

50kg: Mohammad Hosseinvand and Pouya Dadmarz

54kg: Reza Mardi

63kg: Ali Naghusi, Ali Safdari and Yousef Hosseinvand

69kg: Mohammadreza Rostami, Ali Mousazadeh and Mohammad Mahdi Khoshbakht

100kg: Aliakbar Yousefi and Vahid Dadkhah

The Iranian squad in the Georgian sportive event will be led by Ali Ashkani and Bahman Tayebi as head coach and coaches, respectively.

Competitions for 42, 50, 58, 69 and 76 weight groups will be held on Tuesday August 9 while wrestlers in the remaining categories are scheduled to face rivals on Wednesday.

Earlier in July, Iranian cadet Greco-Roman outfit had been crowned as the champion of the 2016 Cadet Asian Championship in Chinese Taipei. The Persians stood on top of the podium with a total of eight medals: six gold, one silver and one bronze.
