Young Iranian wrestlers snatch 8 medals at Georgian tournament

TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (MNA) – The national Iranian cadet Greco-Roman wrestling team ended the third at Temo Kazarashvili international tournament with 8 medals.

The young athletes of Iranian cadet Greco-Roman wrestling team snatched a total of 8 medals at a tournament held in Georgian south-eastern city of Rustavi. The two-day event was scheduled to commemorate the Georgian world champion, Temo Kazarashvili, and the team of Iran ended the third after Georgia and Azerbaijan.

In 55 kilogram category Reza Mardi won the bronze medal, on Wednesday, as Yousef Hamidvand of 63 kilogram division brought home the same color of medal. However, Vahid Dadkhah of 100 kilogram class snatched the gold medal of his weight division defeating the other Iranian wrestler of the category to let Aliakbar Yousefi win the silver of the class.

On the first day of the event, on Tuesday, Pouya Dadmarz and Mohammad Hosseinvand won, respectively, the gold and the silver medals of the 50 kilogram division, while Mohammadreza Rostami snatched the gold of 69 kilogram weight class. His other compatriots of the division Mohammad Mahdi Khoshbakht and Ali Mousazadeh ended the third and fifth in the category.

The Iranian young squad, in this sportive event, fought with wrestlers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The cadets born in 1999-2000 years were legitimate to attend at the event.
