Director of Bushehr Province Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Mehdi Benchari made the remarks asserting “in the meantime, a total of 250 super oil tankers have been loaded at Kharg Terminal.”
“Bushehr province enjoys great potentials in oil, gas and petrochemical areas,” highlighted the official adding “majority of the country’s oil is being exported through Kharg Oil Terminal inside the province.”
Benchari touched upon the effect of JCPOA on the increase in Iran’s crude exports maintaining “following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), giant oil tankers have been commuting to the Iranian island leading to a growth in exports.”
He went on to add that super tankers from countries like France, Spain, Greece, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy and South Korea enter Kharg Terminal and leave for their destinations after being loaded.
Director of Bushehr Province Ports and Maritime Organization stressed the 60 percent escalation in exports of oil products from Kharg island reiterating “more than 35.8 million tons of products have been loaded and shipped through Kharg Oil Terminal in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20).”
Benchari said a total of super oil tankers berthed at the southern Iranian island in the mentioned period; "overall, 925 vessels have tied at Kharg Terminal," he concluded.
Kharg Island is a continental island in the Persian Gulf belonging to Iran and s located 25 km off the coast of Iran and 483 km northwest of the Strait of Hormuz.
