Ahmad Pourheidar told Iran’s state news agency IRNA on Thursday that 7.9 million tons of gas condensates worth $ 3.2bn had been exported from the Zone, which improved in terms of tonnage 142 per cent and in terms of value, it was up 94 per cent. “Since 21 March 2016, roughly 11 million tons of non-oil goods worth $ 970 million had been exported which shows an increase of 131 per cent in tonnage and 74 per cent in value,” he detailed. “In the same period, 19 million tons of goods including gas condensates, light-weight polyethylene, butane, propane, mono-and di-ethylene glycol, Botadin-1 and 3, methanol, paraxylene, orthoxylene, polypropylene, styrene monomer, naphtha, ammonia, urea, and rafinite worth $ 190 million were exported to foreign countries, which shows improvement rate of 136 per cent in tonnage and 81 per cent in value,” he said.
“China, Japan, UAE, Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and India are the major destinations of exports; gas condensates exports spiked with South Pars entering into operation in different phases and thus translated into improved export figures accordingly,” Pourheidar told IRNA.
In a related story, media reported that country’s gas condensate production had been improved 600,000 barrels per day. Gas condensates is a type of ultralight fuel and is popular with Asian and European refineries.
