Iran, Turkmenistan to extradite prisoners in near future

GORGAN, Jul. 25 (MNA) – Iran's Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mohammad Ahmadi said on Sunday that the agreement signed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan on extradition of prisoners will be soon implemented.

The extradition deal was signed 20 days ago between Iran and Turkmenistan and is to be implemented in the near future with special formalities, Seyyed Mahmoud Ahmadi made the remarks among the reporters in Gorgan, Golestan province.

He underlined that the philosophy of Iran's Embassy in the country is to strengthen relations between the two countries and dealing with Iranian affairs; “I closely met with more than 302 prisoners during Ramadan in Turkmenistan and now we are investigating and negotiating with prisoners' families.”

He added “it is estimated that some 300 Iranian nationals are subject to prison terms in Turkmenistan.”

Announcing Iran’s follow-up to solve visa problems for businessmen and traders, Ahmadi said Iran and Turkmenistan hold bilateral cooperation and we must also act properly regarding our commitments.
