Junior athletes atop Beach Wrestling World C’ships

TEHRAN, Jun. 05 (MNA) – Iran’s junior beach wrestling team bagged three gold medals to come first at the 2016 Beach Wrestling World Championship in Croatia.

The 2016 Beach Wrestling World Championship for cadets, juniors and seniors (men and women) was competed in Fažana of Croatia from June 3rd to June 5th 2016.

The Iranian squad, comprising Reza Aghajani, Peyman Heidari and Mohsen Sir, secured three gold medals in order to win the title of the international sportive event.

Iran was followed by host Croatia and Greece who stood in the second and third places, respectively.

Competing at 70kg weight category, Iran’s Reza Aghajani had to subdue Greek and Romanian rivals on road to the final where he overcame the Slovenian wrestler winning the gold medal.

Peyman Heidari, Iranian athlete at 80kg weight group, trashed Norwegian and Croatian rivals both in less than 30 seconds before defeating another Norwegian wrestler in the final round and finished first.

The other Iranian gold winner Mohsen Sir at +80kg faced and won over all his rivals from Estonia, Greece and Croatia.

Senior competitions will take place today on June 05 in Fažana located on the western coast of Istria, in Croatia.
