Syrian army repels attacks by terrorist groups against Aleppo

DAMASCUS, May 04 (MNA) – The Syrian Armed Forces Command said today that despite international efforts to establish the cessation of hostilities in Aleppo, terrorist groups launched widespread attacks against the city.

Army units repel these actions by the Al-Nusra Front, the Levant Front and the Islamic Army, allied to try to take the city, whose suburbs have been under for more than a week. The death toll, as well as the number of wounded, surpasses the hundred, mostly civilians, even in the last hours they fired mortar shells and rockets into the Dubat hospital, said the sources.

The terrorists are trying to isolate Aleppo, a province about 350 kilometers from Damascus and bordering with Turkey, and keep it as an access point for supplies of arms, ammunition and men from the neighboring country.

The Al-Nusra Front and several of the groups subordinated to it, concentrated about 10 thousand troops before going on the attack on Tuesday, according to sources, which denied that the Russian and Syrian aviation broke the ceasefire in force since last February 27th.
