Mohsen Ghamsari told Mehr News that under a recent agreement with Greece’s biggest oil refiner Hellenic Petroleum, Iran has started exporting 60,000 bpd of crude oil to this European country.
“Greece was considered as one of Iran’s traditional oil markets before the sanctions were imposed on our country, and under the new agreement, we have resumed oil exports to the European country,” said Ghamsari.
Following an agreement reached between Iran and the largest oil refinery in Greece on resuming crude oil transactions, Greece has called for the transit of Iranian gas to EU member countries.
Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Panos Skourleti, has recently voiced his country’s willingness to transit Iran’s LNG to EU’s state members. Touching upon the latest talks of Iran and Greece over oil and gas cooperation, Skourleti highlighted the potentials and capacities of the two countries, saying talks are being held to have Greece as the hub for transiting Iran’s LNG and CNG to Europe.
Meanwhile, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister, Amir-Hossein Zamaninia, had been recently quoted saying that Greece's Hellenic Petroleum would increase the volume of oil imports from Iran to 150,000 bpd.
