Restoration of Palestinians’ rights for stability in ME

TEHRAN, Apr. 15 (MNA) – In his meeting with Indonesian VP on the sidelines of the 13th summit of OIC in Istanbul, President Rouhani hailed Indonesians for their efforts in favor of the oppressed people of Palestine.

“Today, we are witnessing a good age of relations between Iran and Indonesia,” said President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran in his meeting with Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, Indonesian Vice President, on Thursday in Istanbul.

Rouhani held that interactions between the officials of the two countries speed up the bilateral relations and voiced hope that more serious steps to be taken in developing economic ties between the two countries.

“Now, after the removal of anti-Iran sanctions and the resumption of banking communications, the way for activating economic relations is paved and the two countries should sieze the opportunity to take advantage of the potentials and capacities,” said President Rouhani referring to years of relations and the visits of presidents of both countries to the corresponding capitals.

Energy, tourism, science, culture, and research were the areas listed by President Rouhani that could be the ground work for bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Jakarta and the Iranian official stressed upon the necessity of easing the way for development of ties.

“The restoration of the rights of the Palestinians is the necessity and the base for returning stability to the region,” underlined Mr. Rouhani after thanking Indonesia for all the efforts made to return the rights of the nation of Palestine and described it as a pre-step to war with terrorism and extremism.

Rouhani voiced regret that the westerners’ efforts to create terrorist groups and to have instrumental political benefits have turned out as a threat to themselves and unfortunately some regional countries are going the same way to harvest terrorism for their own interests.

The Indonesian vice-president in the same meeting offered greetings to Iranians for success in talks with 5+1 and described the deal as a door to great opportunities of bilateral cooperation.

Muhammad Jusuf Kalla highlighted that Tehran and Jakarta are both supporting peaceful ties and cooperation between Islamic countries and share the same view against terrorism and extremism.

Jusuf Kalla demanded a more active role of the organization of Islamic countries in fundamental and cultural treatment of the horrific phenomena like terrorism and extremism.

The Indonesian official, at the end of the meeting, also broke the news that the Indonesian president will be making a visit to Tehran in the near future.
